Villa Rothermundt

Villa Rothermundt is a manor house in the Blasewitz district with elaborate architecture from the late 1800s, featuring bay windows, small towers, and decorated chimneys. The building stands out for its red brick walls and richly detailed facade that reflected the wealth and taste of its original owner.

A wealthy businessman with operations in Russia commissioned the house in 1895. The building survived World War II with only minor damage and was later used as a music school under Soviet administration.

The house once hosted chamber concerts that drew music lovers from across the city to its rooms. Today a music school uses these same spaces, continuing the building's connection to musical life in the community.

The building underwent major renovations in the early 2000s and now serves as a specialized music school with updated teaching facilities. Keep in mind that it functions as an active school, so public access may be limited depending on the school's schedule.

The house once contained an impressive art collection featuring paintings by Monet and Van Gogh that made it a treasure for art lovers of the time. Though the collection is long gone, the building's architecture still carries the memory of its cultural wealth.
