Herrieder Tor, City gate in Ansbach, Germany

The Herrieder Tor features an octagonal baroque tower with a bulbous roof, rusticated pilasters, and decorative plaster work on its exterior walls.

Built in 1750-1751 by Johann David Steingruber under Margrave Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, the gate incorporated foundations from a 15th-century structure.

The gate houses the Ansbach Art Association office and exhibition space, along with the Frankenbund local group's archives of regional historical materials.

The tower opens to visitors during the Monument Day, and its carillon plays the Hohefriedberger March melody twice daily at 11:00 and 17:00.

Located on the southern side of the old town, this gate remains the sole survivor containing the oldest fortification components among Ansbach's five original gates.
