Fuggerschloss, Mittelbau

The Fuggerschloss Mittelbau is a three-story building with a saddle roof and crenellated gable sections facing the Kirchplatz. The complex includes a forecourt and sits beside the parish church of Weißenhorn.

The structure was built around 1460 and underwent major renovation in the 1730s when baroque elements were introduced. This blend of medieval and baroque styles created the appearance we see today.

The castle was home to the Fugger family, merchants and bankers whose business empire shaped the region for generations. Visitors can see how the building reflects the wealth and status this family held in local society.

The building sits in the central plaza and is easily reached on foot when visiting the town center of Weißenhorn. The complex can be viewed from multiple angles and different sides are accessible from the surrounding area.

The middle building is just one section of a larger Fugger complex that once consisted of multiple structures. What remains today demonstrates how noble estates were organized and constructed during the early modern period.
