Schloss Lieberose, Renaissance and Baroque château in Lieberose, Germany
Schloss Lieberose is a four-winged Baroque palace with high ceilings, grand staircases, and a large castle pond nearby. The building sections come from different periods, visible in the varying architectural styles throughout.
The original water castle dates to 1301 and became a Renaissance residence under the Schulenburg family in the 16th century. Around 1750 a Baroque reconstruction gave the building its current appearance.
The palace served as a meeting point for Saxon court travelers, and this royal connection shaped life here across generations. The architecture and furnishings reflect how closely the Brandenburg nobility remained linked to Saxon power.
The castle interior is accessible only through pre-booked guided visits arranged via the supporting association at Darre Am Schlosshof. Plan your visit ahead to secure a spot on a tour.
The grounds span about 34 hectares with multiple historical buildings, including a museum in the former granary. Former servant quarters now house residential units that keep the castle's past alive.
