Schloss Tiefenau, Castle and stately home in Tiefenau, Wülknitz, Germany.
Schloss Tiefenau is a two-story baroque castle with central projecting bays and a mansard roof located in Wülknitz, Germany. The grounds feature an English landscape park with connecting paths and fish ponds, along with a chapel and adjacent cemetery.
The estate came under the control of bishops from Naumburg beginning in 1013. Swedish forces destroyed it in 1637 during the Thirty Years' War, though it was rebuilt and remained significant for centuries afterward.
The chapel built in 1716 houses an organ crafted by renowned builder Gottfried Silbermann, which visitors can see today after extensive restoration in the late 1990s. The chapel remains an important spiritual center on the grounds, reflecting the estate's role as a place of worship over centuries.
The estate grounds are accessible for walking, with paths throughout the park allowing visitors to explore different areas at their own pace. Warmer months offer the most pleasant conditions for visiting and enjoying the outdoor spaces and landscaping.
After Soviet orders in 1947, most of the buildings were demolished to supply construction materials for new farms in the surrounding area. Today the site is known mainly for its park and surviving chapel, with the original castle building having disappeared.
