Defence and Garrison Museum, Military museum in Aalborg, Denmark
The Defence and Garrison Museum is housed in a former wartime hangar and displays weapons, vehicles, and personal equipment from various branches of the Danish armed forces. The collection spans different periods of military hardware and technology.
The hangar was built by Germany during World War II and later served the Danish Civil Defence Forces as storage. After the war the building was repurposed and now houses military collections.
The exhibits show how soldiers experienced their daily work across different eras, from World War II through modern operations. Visitors can see how military life and duties changed over time.
The museum is open daily from April through October with special winter arrangements due to the unheated hangar. Visitors should wear warm clothing in cold weather and bring sturdy shoes for walking on uneven ground.
Inside is a preserved German command bunker from the seaplane base with exhibits about three German airbases that operated in the city. This underground structure offers insights into the occupation-era infrastructure.
