Aalborg Søfarts- og Marinemuseum

The Aalborg Maritime and Naval Museum is a maritime museum that focuses on the history of seafaring and the navy. Inside and outside, you will find ships, naval equipment, weapons, and personal items that show how life and work were organized at sea.

The museum emerged in the 1990s and was built around a former naval vessel that served the Danish Navy for many years. This focus on a working ship that played an active role in the country's maritime history continues to shape what the museum shows today.

The exhibitions show how maritime trade shaped life and work in Aalborg for generations. You can see objects that reveal the connection between the city and the sea through daily use and trade.

You can walk inside the vessels and explore different rooms on board, including sleeping areas and work spaces. Allow time for a relaxed visit, since exploring all the indoor and outdoor displays takes several hours.

The submarine at the heart of the museum housed a crew of more than 30 people in extremely tight quarters. The cramped sleeping bunks and narrow corridors give a real sense of how physically demanding life was in those conditions.
