Augustenborg Palace, Baroque castle in Augustenborg, Denmark.

The three-winged palace displays yellow-painted walls and a blue-tiled roof with building heights increasing progressively toward the central section of the structure.

Ernest Günther, the first Duke of Augustenborg, initiated the construction of the original half-timbered manor house between 1660 and 1664 after acquiring the village of Stavensbøl.

The palace interior features white-painted stucco work by Italian decorator Michel Angelo Taddei, who also designed the two-storey Baroque chapel in the northern wing.

The palace grounds include walking paths through landscaped gardens with grass terraces and shaped hedges, offering visitors multiple exploration routes throughout the property.

Hans Christian Andersen wrote his renowned tale 'The Little Match Girl' during his stay at Augustenborg Palace in autumn 1844.
