Karolinelund, Municipal park in Aalborg, Denmark
Karolinelund is a public park in the eastern section of Aalborg's city center with water courses, walking paths, and diverse vegetation. The grounds spread along the Østerå stream and provide different areas for walking and spending time outdoors.
The site was originally home to Tivoliland, an amusement park from the 1940s that closed after more than 60 years of operation. The site was later transformed into the green space that exists today.
The park provides spaces for neighbors to gather, with skateboarding areas and community gardens that bring people together. These features shape daily life in the eastern city center and invite different kinds of activities.
The park is walkable with accessible pathways that are easy to navigate on foot. Access is available year-round with multiple entry points throughout the grounds.
During the park's redesign, the Østerå stream was uncovered after being hidden under concrete for over 100 years. This rediscovery allowed the historic waterway to be reintegrated into the landscape.
