The Olgerdige fortification consists of multiple rows of palisades, moats, and ramparts extending across the Danish peninsula near the German border.

Archaeological research reveals that the construction of Olgerdige occurred in three distinct phases between 22 and 90 AD, with the initial palisade row built in 31 AD.

The structure served as a territorial boundary between the Angles and Jutes, reflecting different burial practices where Jutes performed body burials while Angles practiced cremation.

The defensive structure controlled three ancient pathways and functioned as a strategic checkpoint for monitoring movement between different territories in the region.

Among the 28 identified ramparts across Denmark, Olgerdige remains distinguished by its extensive size and early construction date from the first century AD.
