Kjærsgaard Strand

Kjærsgaard Strand is a sandy beach at the mouth of the Liver Å river where it flows into the Skagerrak, with natural dunes rising over 15 meters (49 feet). Grass covers much of the dune system, creating a rolling landscape typical of northern Jutland's coastline.

The area contains Stone Age settlement evidence, with ancient cliffs called Lien marking where the historic shoreline once was. These archaeological traces show that people have used this coast for thousands of years.

The protected nature area near the beach displays coastal plant species adapted to Denmark's challenging maritime environment. Visitors can observe how the vegetation shapes the character of this stretch of shore.

Parking is available in a designated area about 300 meters (984 feet) from the water's edge, as vehicles cannot drive directly to the beach. Wear sturdy shoes for the walk from the parking area and allow extra time to reach the shore.

Huge flocks of starlings gather above the beach in autumn, creating intricate patterns of movement across the sky. These natural aerial displays happen when thousands of birds move in synchronized coordination.
