Krogerup

Krogerup is a two-story brick manor house topped with a slate roof and three prominent chimneys running along its ridge. The structure sits on elevated ground with views across manicured gardens and surrounding forests.

Construction began in 1772 and finished by 1776 under the direction of Frederik Rostgaard von der Maase. Subsequent owners made significant changes over the decades, particularly a neoclassical renovation that reshaped the building's appearance.

Today the building functions as a folk high school where people gather to learn and engage with ideas together. The historic rooms create a setting where education and tradition continue to shape how visitors experience the place.

The property sits among wooded gardens that invite exploration and offer peaceful walks through the grounds. Visitors should wear suitable shoes since the terrain is elevated and access to different parts of the estate can be uneven.

The building underwent a dramatic transformation in the 1830s when it gained a second floor and its original mansard roof was replaced with a gabled design. Few visitors realize how substantially the house was reshaped from its original form.
