Monument over Danmarks internationale indsats

The monument consists of three granite blocks with illuminated interior walls that hold inscriptions and an eternal flame in the central chamber. The structure creates a solemn space for remembrance of international service spanning from 1948 onward.

The memorial was designed by artist Finn Reinbothe and opened by Queen Margrethe II in 2011 to honor Denmark's international commitment since the post-war period. It marked a new way of remembering the nation's contributions to global peace missions.

The inscriptions on the walls honor those who served in international operations in Cyprus, Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Visitors can read the names and see how Denmark participated in these global missions.

The memorial is located within Copenhagen's Citadel and remains free to visit throughout the day for all visitors. The site is easy to reach on foot and offers a quiet place for reflection.

The central chamber displays the inscription 'En tid - Et sted - Et menneske', which translates to 'One time - One place - One person' and captures the heart of the memorial. These words reflect how each mission and each person involved is viewed as deeply personal.
