Skagen's White Lighthouse, Historic lighthouse in Skagen, Denmark
The octagonal brick tower stands 21 meters tall, featuring white-washed walls and a distinctive balcony near its uppermost section.
Built in 1747 by architect Philip de Lange, this structure marked the beginning of brick lighthouse construction in Denmark and operated until 1858.
The lighthouse represents Danish maritime heritage through its architectural design and its role in protecting ships along the northern Jutland coast.
Located at the intersection of Fyrvej and Batterivej, the lighthouse now functions as an exhibition space managed by Frederikshavn Municipality.
The original lighting system used coal transported through an internal shaft to a fire basket before switching to rapeseed oil in 1835.
