Nyhavn 20, Historic canal house in Nyhavn, Denmark
The three-story brick building features a light blue plastered facade with red tiled roofs and two three-bay wall dormers facing the waterfront.
Construction of Nyhavn 20 occurred between 1778 and 1779 under merchant Andreas Bodenhoff, following the royal auction of properties along the canal in 1770.
The building housed Hans Christian Andersen in 1834, where he wrote his first fairy tales, including The Tinderbox and The Princess and the Pea.
The structure currently operates as part of Hotel Bethel, providing accommodations for visitors seeking to experience the historical waterfront district.
A memorial plaque on the facade marks the location where Hans Christian Andersen published his first fairy tale during his residency.
