Pilestræde 37, Protected building at the corner of Pilestræde and Kronprinsensgade, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Pilestræde 37 is a five-story building with grey painted facades located at the corner of Pilestræde and Kronprinsensgade. Its mansard roof features a dormer window and a decorative belt cornice that runs along the upper levels.
The corner building was constructed between 1784 and 1786 by master mason Johan Peter Boye Junge following the establishment of Kronprinsensgade. It soon became a sought-after residential location in Copenhagen's urban center.
The building was home to notable figures including actors Michael and Johanne Rosing, printer Andreas Flinch, and Meyer Herman Bing who founded Bing & Grøndahl. These residents remain part of the area's cultural memory.
The ground floor now contains a 7-Eleven store, while the upper levels function as protected residential condominiums. The corner location makes it easy to find and clearly visible from the street.
Around 1840, the building housed about 51 residents across eight households, showing the crowded urban living conditions of that era. This density changed dramatically after modern renovations in the 20th century.
