Trygge Slot

Trygge Slot is an archaeological site on Falster island featuring remains of early medieval fortifications and defense structures from the Viking Age. Excavations have uncovered fire layers, defensive ditches, and structural remnants that show how the site was carefully planned for protection.

The site emerged around 800 and served as a critical defensive position until roughly 1200, when it was eventually abandoned. Multiple phases of destruction and rebuilding mark its history before the fortification was finally left behind.

This location once served as a center of protection and authority where people sought refuge during attacks from neighboring regions. The visible remains today reflect how life was shaped by the constant need for defense and security.

The site is located on Falster within Guldborgsund Municipality and can be reached via marked paths and trails. Wear sturdy footwear as the ground is uneven and some areas feature uncovered archaeological structures.
