Matsalu National Park, National park and Ramsar site in western Estonia
Matsalu National Park extends across 486 square kilometers of wetlands, coastal meadows, and the expansive delta of the Kasari River.
The protection of this natural area started in 1936 with initial bird conservation measures, leading to its designation as a nature reserve in 1957.
The Matsalu International Nature Film Festival occurs each autumn in Lihula, presenting documentaries about environmental protection and natural heritage.

Over two million waterfowl migrate through this wetland during spring, with long-tailed ducks representing the largest group of passing birds.
