The Tank Monument of Narva

The Tank Monument of Narva is a Soviet T-34-85 tank standing on a limestone base about 2 meters high near the road connecting Narva to Narva-Jõesuu. The vehicle sits directly on its heavy foundation and serves as a visible landmark in the landscape.

The monument marks where Soviet troops of the Leningrad Front crossed the Narva River under General Fedjuninski's command in July 1944. This crossing was a key moment in the Soviet advance through this region.

Wedding parties tie colored ribbons around the barrel to include this place in their celebrations. This shows how residents have woven the monument into their personal moments.

The tank sits beside a side road and is easily visible from the main route between Narva and Narva-Jõesuu. The location is simple to reach and offers a quick stop while traveling between the two towns.

In 2022 the tank was moved to a museum in Viimsi despite local requests to keep it in Narva. This relocation sparked local discussion and debate in the community.
