Ras asz-Szitan

Ras asz-Szitan is a diving and beach location on the southern Sinai coast featuring extensive coral reefs and underwater rock formations. These structures create habitats for many fish species and give the Red Sea here its distinctive underwater character.

The area has served as an important navigation point for ships crossing the Red Sea since ancient times. The name, meaning Cape of the Devil, reflects how people historically understood this dangerous section of coast.

Bedouin communities in the surrounding area shape how local settlements look and function through their traditional way of life. Visitors can observe how people here connect with the sea and the land in their daily routines.

Multiple dive centers offer guided tours and equipment rentals for visitors of different experience levels. The best conditions for diving occur from May through October when water and air temperatures are most comfortable.

The area contains four distinct reef systems in the Tiran Strait that offer divers exceptional water visibility. Visitors regularly encounter large marine creatures here that are less common in other diving spots.
