Rubielos de Mora

Rubielos de Mora is a town built with stone structures situated on elevated terrain in Teruel Province, surrounded by protective walls with two preserved gateways from the medieval period. The settlement features numerous houses with interior courtyards and architectural details from the Renaissance era, displaying skilled craftsmanship in stonework and decorative elements.

The settlement originated during the Middle Ages and grew prosperous through commerce in wool and agricultural goods. In the 20th century, it gained international recognition in 1983 for preserving its historical and artistic architectural heritage.

The Church of Santa María la Mayor displays religious artworks that show the wealth of the town during its prosperous centuries. These pieces inside reveal how important faith and community were to the local families who lived here.

The location is easy to explore on foot since all major areas are compact and connected by paved paths. Wearing sturdy shoes is helpful because the streets are uneven and there are slopes throughout the settlement.
