Serra del Cadí, Mountain range in northern Catalonia, Spain

Serra del Cadí is a limestone mountain system that extends over several kilometers from east to west, separating numerous valleys and small towns. The landscape shows steep rock walls on the northern sides and gentler slopes descending toward the south.

The range formed through major mountain-building processes that shaped the entire region, and today its rock layers reveal evidence of these ancient geological events. The compressed and folded limestone shows how powerful forces reshaped the earth's crust over time.

The communities around the range live with the mountains as part of their daily identity, using the slopes for grazing and forestry work. This integration shows in how villages are positioned along valleys and how people move through the landscape.

Access to this mountain system is easiest from the surrounding villages, where you can find trails ranging from simple walks to challenging routes. Weather conditions change significantly with the seasons, so planning your visit with flexible timing helps ensure safer movement through the terrain.

A wolf was spotted within these limestone formations a few years ago, marking the first confirmed sighting in the region after decades of absence. This discovery indicated that large predators could naturally return to the Pyrenean areas.
