Albal

Albal is a small municipality south of Valencia with a compact historic center where old buildings and everyday life coexist naturally. Layers of different periods are visible in the architecture, ranging from medieval towers to more recent structures.

The settlement was founded in 1244 and carries a name with Arabic roots, reflecting the long presence of that culture in the region. An Arab tower from the 13th century still stands as evidence of this early period.

The Church of Our Lady of the Angels shapes the town center and reflects the spiritual life that has defined this place for centuries. Walking through the streets, visitors can sense how religion remains woven into the local identity.

The town is easily reached by public transport and sits on flat ground that invites walking around. Visitors should allow time to explore the different buildings and get a feel for the place without rushing.

The Hermitage of Santa Ana from the 14th century shows how religious buildings of that time were simple and practical in design. This modest shrine is today a quiet corner often overlooked, but it reveals much about medieval devotion.
