Chulilla

Chulilla is a municipality in the mountainous region of Valencia Province, spreading across rugged terrain with deep canyons and gorges. The village sits along the Turia River, which carves through narrow passages and creates natural swimming basins.

A fortress was built in the 10th century on a limestone ridge as a defensive outpost during Moorish rule. Later it was transformed into a Christian castle and still defines the landscape today.

The village takes its name from an ancient settlement, and people gather in the town squares to socialize and share daily life. Local life here follows the rhythm of the seasons and the river that has connected the community for generations.

The area offers numerous hiking trails and climbing routes of varying difficulty for different experience levels. It is wise to check weather conditions before visiting and bring appropriate gear for outdoor activities.

Two hanging bridges span the river canyon and provide direct access to the swimming areas below. Crossing the longer one offers a thrilling experience high above the water.
