America's Cup Building, Modern architectural structure in Valencia Port, Spain
America's Cup Building is an architectural structure at Valencia Port featuring four stacked concrete platforms with horizontal planes extending outward to create viewing areas. The design offers generous outdoor spaces across multiple levels with clear sightlines toward the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding waterfront.
The structure was designed by British architect David Chipperfield and completed in 2006 to serve as the main venue for the 2007 America's Cup sailing competition. It became a key element in transforming Valencia's port into a modern sports facility.
The name Veles e Vents references a medieval poem about wind forces by Valencian writer Ausiàs March, linking the city's maritime traditions with modern design.
The ground floor contains restaurants and bars facing the waterfront, accessible to the general public. The upper levels house event spaces and exhibition areas that vary in their use and availability throughout the year.
The building features Brazilian timber decking and white-painted steel throughout its structure, giving the design a natural touch. Most of its space is devoted to open-air areas, emphasizing the connection between the building and the surrounding water and sky.
