Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Angustias is a parish church in Ayamonte with three naves, where the central one rises higher and wider than the others. A terracotta-colored staircase bordered by stone columns provides access to the building.

The church gained importance after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, when minimal damage to the town was seen as protection from the Virgin of Angustias. This attribution strengthened religious devotion and the sanctuary's role as the heart of the community.

The main altar shows a mix of Mudejar and Renaissance decoration, with strong columns holding up an arch filled with religious and family symbols. This artistic blend reflects the different periods that shaped the building.
