Ciudad romana de Lacipo

Lacipo is a Roman settlement on a hilltop near Casares with preserved defensive walls, building foundations, and two water tanks. The remains sit on elevated ground that once offered broad views across the surrounding territory.

The settlement emerged in the 1st century BC and served as a military and administrative center for several centuries. After Roman rule ended, later populations continued to use the location for their own communities.

The site reveals layers of different peoples and communities that made this hilltop their home across centuries. The remains found here show how inhabitants adapted to live in this strategically important location.

The site sits on a hillside and requires a walk across uneven ground to reach the ruins. Comfortable shoes and plenty of water are wise choices, especially during warmer weather.

Burial grounds from a later period were discovered on the grounds, showing that people continued to use this place for burying their dead long after the Romans left. This suggests the location remained sacred and important across generations.
