Castell de Jaume I, Medieval castle in Piera, Spain.
The castle consists of a square tower with an attached rectangular building divided into three levels, including a weapons hall and farmhouse.
Originally owned by the Sant Cugat monastery between the 10th and 11th centuries, the castle later transferred to the Viscounts and Counts of Barcelona.
The castle holds regular exhibitions of regional artifacts and documents that demonstrate the evolution of Catalan defensive architecture through centuries.
Visitors can join guided tours on the first Sunday of each month between 12:00 and 14:00, with advance reservations required through provided phone numbers.
The Oliveras Sastre-Marqués family maintains residence in the castle, continuing a tradition of private ownership that spans multiple generations.
