Castell del Papiol

Castell del Papiol is a medieval stone fortress located near Barcelona in Catalonia. The fortification sits on high ground and overlooks the Llobregat River valley and the surrounding countryside.

The castle was built in medieval times as a fortification to control the valley below. It was later recognized as a Cultural Asset of National Interest, which helped ensure its preservation and importance in Catalan architectural history.

Visitors can take the Renfe R4 train line to El Papiol station and then use local transport to reach the castle grounds. Wearing comfortable shoes is advisable since the path up to the fortress is steep and uneven.
