Convent dels Àngels

The Convent dels Àngels is a 16th-century monastery in El Raval with three vaulted halls and decorated corbels throughout its structure. A single-nave church with lateral chapels set between buttresses forms the main body of this complex.

The original convent was established in 1485, but in 1562 it was relocated inside the walled city because the earlier site stood outside the fortifications. This move was part of a broader defense strategy for Barcelona.

The chapel dedicated to Peu de la Creu displays a Renaissance entrance that reflects the artistic care invested in this place. Visitors can still observe these finely crafted details today, which show how much this location meant as both a religious and artistic center.

The building now serves as an exhibition space connected to the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona. It regularly displays contemporary art installations within its historic rooms.
