Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Muskilda

The rectangular church features three naves supported by six cylindrical columns, with a central barrel vault and lateral quarter vaults at 1000 meters elevation point.

The construction of this religious monument began around 1200, during the reign of Sancho the Strong, incorporating thick buttresses and a distinctive quadrangular tower.

Every September 8th, local residents perform traditional ceremonial dances known as the Danzantes de Muskilda to honor the Virgin of Muskilda statue.

The hermitage complex includes separate houses for the hermit and chaplain, surrounded by stone walls, with two entrance doors added at different construction periods.

The wooden polychrome statue of Virgin Mary with Child Jesus, dating from the 14th-15th centuries, stands in an altarpiece marked with a 1642 inscription.
