Casa Pont

Casa Pont is a residential building in Cadaqués designed by architect Salvador Sellés i Baró and built in the early 1900s in the Art Nouveau style. The two-story structure features pointed arch windows, a decorative balcony supported by large stone brackets, stone lion sculpture, carved floral reliefs, and a facade of light gray limestone with green glazed roof tiles.

The house was built around 1910 when Cadaqués attracted artists and wealthy families like the Ponts, who had gained prosperity through shipping and trade. The family was instrumental in the town's economic development, operating boats that carried fish, salt, and other goods to larger cities over generations.

The house takes its name from the Pont family, who lived there and were active in shipping and trade in Cadaqués. This connection ties the building directly to the town's maritime heritage and the people who shaped its economy.

The house is located in the old town of Cadaqués near the main beach and can be viewed from the exterior. It sits on a narrow street where visitors can observe it from different angles and appreciate its architectural details on foot.

A remarkable feature is the stone lion sculpture sitting in the center of the upper balcony, giving the house a distinctive character. This unusual ornament is often overlooked by visitors but serves as a true signature element of the facade.
