Playa de Punta Larga

Playa de Punta Larga is an urban beach with a mixed sandy and shingle surface that stretches roughly 230 meters along the waterfront. The beach sits right next to town with designated areas for sunbathing and swimming, backed by a promenade that connects to local streets and facilities.

This location was originally a traditional fishing area that transformed into a leisure destination during the twentieth century. The shift followed tourism growth in Candelaria and broader development of the coastal zone.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals come together throughout the year for informal meetings and occasional celebrations. Its proximity to town makes it feel like an extension of daily community life rather than just a tourist destination.

The site has wheelchair ramps, changing facilities, showers, and nearby parking available. Visitors should note that the cove is somewhat compact, so arriving early during peak seasons helps find comfortable spots.

A 240-meter breakwater shields part of the beach and naturally creates protected swimming areas. This structure gives swimmers shelter from rough waves and strong ocean currents.
