Dragos Gemelos, Remarkable trees in Breña Alta, Spain.
Dragos Gemelos are two dragon trees with interwoven branches forming a single canopy that rises about 15 meters high. They grow closely together beside the LP-301 road at an elevation of about 380 meters.
These dragon trees originally belonged to the Las Gallanias farm and were managed by Servando Perez, who used their leaves as animal feed. Over time they received local protection and became safeguarded natural monuments.
These dragon trees have appeared on the municipal coat of arms of Breña Alta since 1990 and represent the region's natural heritage. They stand today as symbols of local pride and protection.
The trees stand near a sharp bend in the road, making parking challenging due to limited visibility. It is best to find a safe spot and watch for traffic when approaching the area.
The northern tree has an unusually thick trunk measuring about 4 meters in diameter, while its southern companion grows just 1.5 meters away. This extreme proximity has woven their roots and branches together, creating a botanical oddity.
