Mamariga shuttle, Funicular transport in Santurtzi, Spain
The Mamariga shuttle operates along a 353-meter track, climbing 42 meters in elevation to connect Santurtzi metro station with the Mamariga neighborhood.
The funicular system began construction in late 2007 and officially commenced operations on September 3, 2010, expanding Metro Bilbao's transportation network.
The transport system carries multiple names across languages, including Mamarigako anezka in Basque and Lanzadera a Mamariga in Spanish, reflecting the regional diversity.
Trains depart every three minutes during metro operating hours, and since 2013, passengers can use the funicular service without paying any additional fare.
Following a fire incident at the Mamariga terminus in June 2015, the funicular underwent extensive repairs and returned to service in December that year.
