Biblioteca Pilarin Bayés de Vic, Public library in Vic, Spain
Biblioteca Pilarin Bayés is a five-story library building with around 4,000 square meters of space designed for different uses. Inside, you will find reading areas, multimedia rooms, and spaces that open onto a garden with trees.
This library opened in 2022 and was built on the site of a former Civil Guard barracks. It replaced the previous library facility that had served the city for more than twenty years.
The library is named after Pilarin Bayés, a Vic-born illustrator whose work shaped children's literature across generations. The naming process involved local residents, reflecting the community's connection to her artistic legacy.
The library is easy to navigate with open areas to explore throughout the building. Plan your visit around the opening hours, and do not miss the garden space outside, which invites you to spend time walking or sitting.
The garden features ten trees planted as a memorial to a tragic event that took place here in 1991. Each tree stands as a tribute to someone whose life was lost that day.
