Coll de la Font de Cera, Mountain pass in Catalan Coastal Range, Spain
Coll de la Font de Cera is a mountain pass in the Catalan Coastal Range located at approximately 275 meters in elevation. It connects the municipality of Alella in Maresme with Vallromanes in Vallès Oriental, serving as a crossing point between two distinct regions.
The pass developed as a vital link between the coastal area of El Masnou and the inland region around Granollers. Over time it became part of established transport routes and is now used by both road and foot traffic.
The pass serves as a crossing point for hikers who travel between coastal and inland regions of Catalonia. It marks a junction where different landscapes and communities come together through shared routes.
The northern approach is gentler and covers about 5 kilometers, while the southern ascent is steeper and spans around 6 kilometers. Both routes are accessible on foot or by car, with each side offering different views of the surrounding landscape.
The two sides of the pass present starkly different landscapes: the northern slope opens to fields and golf courses, while the southern side is covered in thick woodland. This contrast creates an interesting experience for anyone crossing the pass on foot.
