Josafatin kalliot, Rock formation and park in Alppiharju, Finland
The granite rock formations stand prominently in the landscape, featuring a small pond at the top and cherry trees along the corners.
Initially zoned for construction in 1901, local activism in the 1970s prevented development plans and secured the area as a protected park.
M.A. Numminen composed a specific song called Josafatin jenkka, which became the anthem of the park preservation movement.
The park connects with Tauno Palo Park and includes a playground, performance stage, and dedicated areas for recreational activities.
The name derives from the biblical Valley of Jehoshaphat, reflecting the 19th-century practice of giving religious names to areas north of Helsinki.
