Anneyron, Commune in the Drôme department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, France.
Anneyron covers approximately 136 square kilometers in northern Drôme, featuring rolling terrain with elevations ranging between 165 and 372 meters above sea level across its diverse landscape.
The commune was established under Napoleon I by combining the former commune of Mantaille with a section of Albon, inheriting a heritage linked to the Counts of Albon who transferred their domain to the French crown in 1349.
The community regularly hosts traditional fairs, art exhibitions, and summer celebrations, featuring heritage sites including the Château de Larnage built in 1340 and the ruins of Mantaille castle.
Anneyron provides essential infrastructure including public schools, sports facilities, multipurpose cultural venues, and recreational areas with lakes and picnic zones serving both residents and visitors throughout the year.
Marquis d'Arlande, an aviation pioneer who made the first balloon flights with Pilâtre du Rozier in 1783, retired to Anneyron after the revolutionary period and died there on May 1, 1809.
