The Grand Wintersberg reaches an elevation of 581 meters and features sandstone formations that characterize the mountainous landscape of Northern Vosges.
The mountain contains Celtic artifacts and a Gallo-Roman sandstone relief called Liese, which resembles a sphinx and indicates ancient settlement in the area.
The Chalet du Club Vosgien maintains a mountain refuge at the 514-meter saddle between Grand and Petit Wintersberg, continuing regional outdoor traditions.
A 25-meter observation tower at the summit provides views across the Upper Rhine Plain, the North Vosges, and extends toward the Black Forest.
The mountain acts as a natural separator between the valleys of Falkensteinerbach and Schwarzbach, creating distinct geographical zones in the region.
