Château de Villaines, Classical castle in Louplande, France.

The estate features high slate roofs and extends across 15.2 hectares of land, including gardens and ground floor reception rooms.

Built in the 17th century on the foundations of a 12th-century fortress, the castle underwent modifications when the Marquis d'Aux acquired it in 1776.

The castle appears in Honoré de Balzac's literary work 'Madame Firmiani' as the property of character Octave de Camps.

Visits are available from June through July and September, with entry fees of 5 euros for adults while children under 18 enter free.

During World War I, the castle served as a training center for military chaplains of the American army.
