Château de Vins sur Caramy

Château de Vins-sur-Caramy is a castle with four angular towers and arrow slits situated on a hilltop at 340 meters elevation. It offers views across the Caramy valley and its restored interior spaces reveal the original building structure.

The castle was first documented in charters from 1060 as castrum de Vicinis and its current structure dates from the early 1500s. This transformation reflects the shift from a fortress to a residential castle.

The castle hosts a summer music academy where concerts and instrumental training happen in its restored rooms. Visitors can experience classical performances and masterclasses that shape the cultural life of the area.

Visitors can explore the castle on guided tours that provide access to all major rooms, including the courtyard area and viewing platforms. Sturdy footwear is recommended since paths across the grounds can be uneven.

The courtyard contains a double arcade gallery in Italian style topped with a loggia and a fountain decorated with a mascaron. This architectural detail reveals the influence of southern Renaissance styles on the castle.
