Haras national de Strasbourg, Horse stud farm and historical monument in Strasbourg, France.
Haras National de Strasbourg is a former horse stud farm in the city, built with classical architecture and spacious stable buildings. The complex features a grand entrance gate and multiple connected structures spread across the grounds near Petite France.
The site began in 1752 as the city's riding academy before becoming a Royal Stud Farm shortly after. This shift shows how it evolved from a local training facility into an important institution for breeding horses for the kingdom.
The name comes from Arabic origins related to horse breeding traditions. Walking through the grounds today, you can still feel the connection to this heritage in how the spaces are arranged and used.
The site is easy to explore on foot since all buildings are arranged within a connected area. There is an on-site restaurant serving regional food where you can rest and eat while visiting the place.
The former stables now house a Biocluster with innovative companies working inside 18th century architecture. This blend of old walls and modern research creates an unexpected contrast that visitors discover while exploring.
