Chastelard de Lardiers, Archaeological sanctuary in Lardiers, France

The Chastelard de Lardiers site stands at 990 meters altitude on the southern slope of the Lure mountain, overlooking the Voconces territory.

The sanctuary reached its peak during the second century, when the Sogiontiques separated from the Voconces and established Sisteron as their capital.

Excavations at the site have uncovered 11,000 complete lamps, 10,000 bronze rings, and 5,000 bronze votive plaques from ancient religious ceremonies.

The archaeological findings from Chastelard de Lardiers are now stored and displayed at the archaeological museum of Apt for public viewing.

The site transformed from a residential settlement into a religious sanctuary, preserving ancient walls that defined a sacred area with a ceremonial path.
