Château de Merlemont, Renaissance castle in Warluis, France

The castle features a northern gable with two corbelled turrets, a southwest tower, and a vaulted basement room aligned with Renaissance architecture patterns.

Construction of the castle began in the 13th century, with Louis de Courtils adding a new wing in 1530, followed by modifications until the 19th century.

In 1561, Bishop of Beauvais Odet de Coligny converted to Protestantism at Château de Merlemont, marking a religious shift in the region.

The castle received historical monument status on October 9, 1979, with additional protections established by decree on June 25, 2020.

The west facade was rebuilt in 1965 in neoclassical style after suffering damage from bombardments during 1944.
