Église Notre-Dame de Santranges

The Église Notre-Dame de Santranges is a medieval church featuring a circular apse that appears polygonal from outside, with three vaulted bays constructed in red sandstone. The structure includes a dedicated choir section that forms a distinct architectural element.

The church was built during the 12th century and underwent significant expansion toward the west in the 15th century, with a new porch incorporating the original medieval entrance. This extension was the last major construction phase in its development.

The side chapel holds the reliquary of Saint Posen, a local holy figure who brought Christian faith to shepherds in the region during the early medieval period. This veneration remains part of the village's spiritual identity.

The church is situated on Place du Souvenir Français in the village center and can be easily located. Access is generally available during daytime hours, though it is advisable to check opening times in advance.

The nave was remodeled during the 13th century in a different architectural style, while the choir and apse preserved their original external appearance. This shows how the building evolved gradually without completely reworking its oldest sections.
