Château de Cornusson

Château de Cornusson sits on a rocky ridge overlooking the Seye Valley and features entrance pavilions, terraces, and surrounding moats. The structure displays various architectural elements added during different building phases.

The La Valette-Parisot family rebuilt this fortress between the 16th and 17th centuries under the direction of François de La Valette-Cornusson, Bishop of Vabres. This transformation reflected the changing needs of wealthy families during that transitional era.

The interiors display ornate stucco fireplaces from the 17th century with painted ceilings and wall decorations that have survived through time. These embellishments show how wealthy families lived and decorated their homes during that era.

The castle is a registered historical monument located in the Tarn-et-Garonne region. Visitors should check access conditions and opening times in advance before planning a visit.

A doorway from Pech Rodil Castle in Varen was incorporated into the building during renovations. This element came from another fortress and shows how materials were reused across distances.
