It is believed to be the tomb of Cyrus the Great, founder of the Achaemenid Empire, who died in 530 BC.
The design of Cyrus' tomb is credited with influencing the architecture of ancient Persia, as seen in the structures of Persepolis.
The site is open to the public and can be visited as part of a tour of Pasargadae.
Despite its antiquity, the monument has remained intact, making it a rare example of such ancient architecture.
