Rho, Administrative commune in Metropolitan City of Milan, Italy
Rho is a municipality located roughly 14 kilometers northwest of Milan at an elevation near 156 meters, crossed by the Olona River. The town includes seven neighborhoods: Castellazzo, Biringhello, Lucernate, Mazzo, Pantanedo, Passirana, and Terrazzano, arranged along main roads and rail lines.
Roman settlements shaped the early growth of the area, with a document from 864 mentioning the place as Vicus Raudus. The record lists houses and a church dedicated to Saint Ambrose already present at that time.
The town's coat of arms features a wheel with five spokes, recalling old ties between local noble families and imperial courts. This emblem appears on public buildings and at the entrances to neighborhoods throughout the municipality.
The town is accessible by roads and rail lines connecting to Milan and surrounding areas. Each neighborhood has its own smaller centers with shops and services, so it helps to know which part you are visiting.
The Fiera di Milano exhibition center was built in the early 21st century within the municipal boundaries and ranks among the largest trade fair venues in Europe. Its presence has transformed the local economy and the look of the surrounding area.
