Formigine

Formigine is a municipality in the Province of Modena in the Emilia-Romagna region, defined by its medieval castle and the San Bartolomeo Church. The town spreads across gently rolling terrain and blends historical buildings with contemporary residential areas.

The castle was built in 1201 by Modena's city council to defend the border against Reggio Emilia during disputes over water rights. This fortress marked the settlement's beginning as a fortified strategic location.
